Sacred & Secular Is Now Live
Where faith meets the world we actually live in.
Welcome!
I’ve been thinking for a while about how to create a space that isn’t quite a church, isn’t quite commentary—but somehow manages to hold pieces of all three. A place where questions aren’t treated as threats, where faith and culture sit at the same table, and where we can slow down long enough to notice the sacred hiding in the ordinary.
So today, I’m opening the doors to something new:
Sacred & Secular
My new home for daily reflections, quiet thoughts, and the kind of spiritual wrestling that doesn’t always fit neatly anywhere else.
If you’re reading this, you’re here right at the beginning, and I’m genuinely grateful.
Why this space exists
Most of us live somewhere between the sacred and the secular. We believe, we doubt, we hope, we question, we pray, we get on with the washing-up. Our lives don’t split cleanly into “holy” and “ordinary.” They weave together.
I’ve always loved exploring that blurred place, where Scripture echoes through a modern world, where culture and faith tug at each other, where small moments become unexpected teachers.
I’ve missed having a space where I can write more personally, more consistently, and more quietly than the frantic pace of social media allows.
Sacred & Secular is that space.
What you can expect
Here’s the rhythm we’re beginning with:
✨ Daily reflections (for paid subscribers)
Short pieces designed to help you think, breathe, question, and discover the sacred in the everyday.
✨ A weekly free reflection (for everyone)
A gentle pause at the end of the week — a moment to look back and gather yourself.
✨ Full archive access
All past reflections gathered in one place, including pieces originally behind Medium’s paywall.
A note on paid subscriptions
Why offer a paid subscription? I’ll be honest: life shifted sharply for me when I had to take ill-health retirement in 2024. Writing has become both a calling and a lifeline. Paid subscriptions help keep this work sustainable, allowing me to show up here every day with depth and care.
But you are welcome here whether you’re free or paid.
And if you’d like full access but are unable to afford a subscription, please email me — I never want cost to be the barrier.
A final word of thanks
If you’ve followed my writing for a while on Medium or elsewhere, thank you. Your presence here means more than you know.
If you're new, welcome. Pull up a chair. Make yourself at home. Let’s talk about this stuff. Breathe. Wonder. Wrestle. Explore the places where faith and ordinary life overlap.
I’m excited to see where this goes.
Paul
